Overview

 

The Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series is the world leading Formula 3 category and the UK's leading single-seater motor racing championship. The 2009 season will be contested over 10 events, 7 in the UK and 3 overseas in Germany, Belgium and Romania. Each event consists of 2 races of 30 minutes duration.

With over 40 years of illustrious racing heritage the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series continues to provide aspiring young drivers and team engineering talent, from across the globe, with a professional motor racing environment in which to demonstrate their levels of skill, communication, stamina and race craft.

The British Formula 3 series, widely acknowledged as the toughest domestic single-seater championship in the world, has produced champions and future Formula 1 stars such as David Coulthard, Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello, Mika Hakkinen and Ayrton Senna.

Classes
British International F3 is split into two classes:
• International: Chassis is either new of one year ole, and the engine tuned in accordance with FIA regulations.
• National: Chassis is at least one year old, and the engine is a sealed, one-make Mugen-Honda specification.

Racecars

Performance:
• Top Speed: 160 mph+
• Acceleration: 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds
• Deceleration: 130-50 mph in 2.8 seconds

Chassis Manufacturers:
• Dallara: First entered the British series in 1978. The Italian manufacturer provides 90% of all F3 chassis globally
• Mygale: The French manufacturer enters its third season in British F3

Engines:
• Mugen-Honda XJ6 F3
• Mercedes-Benz M271 F3
• Volkswagen

Tyres:
Formula specific slick and wet tyres, made of one compound and one construction, supplied by Cooper Tires Motorsport

Teams:
As full-time professionals, British F3 teams provide drivers with the environment in which to realise their potential. Team owners/managers and race engineers bring a wealth of experience and invaluable knowledge, and many of them are established names in the world of motorsport in their own right.

Drivers:
• Current and previous British F3 Champions continue to follow the trend of establishing themselves at the pinnacle of world motorsport.
